  Provident Fund Calculation on Salary: How Does It Work? In addition to allowing businesses with at least 20 employees to deduct EPF from payroll, Employers Provident Funds (EPF) allow companies to save money for retirement specifically designed for long-term planning. For employees of the Employees' Provident Fund whose salaries exceed RM15,000, they contribute 12%. For employers, they contribute 8.33% to the Employees' Retirement Scheme whose employees contribute 3.67%. A fund established with the Employee Provident Fund Organisation collects the sum of the employer's and employee's contributions. At the end of the fiscal year, PF is paid a percentage of salary of interest earned determined by the monthly operating balance. Employers with less than 15,001 have to deduct EPF from their salary.
